Veni has enjoyed a long and rewarding career in the creative field as a communication specialist, art director, teacher, writer, designer, photographer, illustrator, team leader, and production manager. She’s been recognized for her work in design, conservation, cultural documentation, and art.

Veni credits her grandmother Yula Robinson Danna, a small business owner, for instilling a work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. Veni’s early enterprises involved everything from selling eggs to the neighbors and art to classmates, giving riding lessons, modeling for local clothiers, designing political campaigns, and making syrup for the family soft drink business. A fun beginning. Today, she operates a solo design studio and helps to manage Marsh Dog, a eco dog treat company she co-founded with her siblings.

As a communication specialist, Veni’s been involved with multiple branding and marketing efforts for higher education, non-profit, and private sector clients. Her graduate thesis centered on branding the Louisiana Black Bear. Subsequently she was asked to lead implementation of the new brand and communications strategy for the BBCC (Black Bear Conservation Coalition). Veni also makes presentations for the Louisiana Small Business Development Center.

As an art director, Veni’s led multiple teams and enjoyed collaborating with other professionals whose combined skill sets benefitted the projects. She was the team leader on the national award winning Louisiana Family Recovery Corps annual report and the point person on the re-branding of several large and integrated projects such as the first LSU capitol fundraising campaign which exceeded its goal of doubling the endowment, gift income, and estate commitments. She’s been on both sides of the camera as director of photography—be it stylist, location scout, prop finder, or model.

As an educator, Veni taught senior students in the LSU School of Art Graphic Design program, many of whom went on to win regional recognition for work executed under her guidance. The class she developed focused on integrated communications and connected students with real life design challenges. Students partnered with CCELL (Center for Community Engagement, Learning & Leadership), Graduate Marketing, and LBTC (Louisiana Business & Technology Center). In addition, the classes were CXC (Communication Across the Curriculum) certified to improve written, oral, visual, and technological communication skills. Nearly all class clients (ex: Louisiana Old State Capitol, Cat Haven, Delta Service Corps) adopted the work. Veni also taught Apple software applications to students at Baton Rouge Community College and art to MDA summer campers.

As a writer, Veni developed editorial and creative copy for multiple award-winning projects such as the Chancellor’s annual report as well as college recruiting campaigns, and business advertising. She’s a published author of non-fiction and is currently working on the story of Barq’s Root Beer.

As a visual artist, Veni has exhibited fine art photography in juried shows across the country. She is especially interested in documenting hand-painted commercial signage in Louisiana and its intersection with entrepreneurism and urban economics.

Veni contributes time and talent to a number of charitable and civic initiatives such as breast cancer awareness, youth entrepreneurs, responsible pet ownership, animal rescue, and environmental education.
